Failing to place second or better, Chandler was granted a provisional into the $3,000-to-win A-Main. Rolling off 24th, Petty suffered a flat tire that brought an early end to his night.

Returning to his Super Late Model on Saturday afternoon, Petty hung on to a third place finish in his heat after breaking his transmission on the second lap.
